The Philadelphia Eagles were able to put up a physical and complete performance against the Cincinnati Bengals and Head Coach Nick Sirianni was not hesitant to let everyone know about it.
Coach Sirianni has been under a lot of fire recently by Eagles fans and analysts alike, but he seemed more than enthusiastic to praise the team's work ethic, fundamentals, and physicality in his postgame press conference following his team's 37-17 victory over the Bengals at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, OH last Sunday.
While Sirianni's ability on the sidelines has come into question for most of this season, this press conference showed that he carries the right values and principles to instill into his team.
Sirianni was quick to note the comeback performance of WR DeVonta Smith stating, "I'm proud of him and the things he stands for and the way he puts his head down and works and tunes out everything else."
The topics of work ethic and effort were major themes that Sirianni touched on in his responses as well as the physicality that the Eagles prioritize as a team.
"The identity of this football team is physical and that's what we're gonna try to play by each week," Sirianni stated.
Sirianni also spoke highly of the work ethic and effort of QB Jalen Hurts. In his responses he touched on the time and work he puts in as well as his love for the game.
He talked about how Hurts is always a hard worker in practice and even went as far to say that the ball did not touch the ground during their long Thursday practice prior to the game on Sunday.
This was one of Philadelphia's most complete performances this season and one that they most certainly needed and Sirianni showed that when asked how it was in the locker room following the victory.
"It was exciting. It's hard to win in this league. It doesn't matter when you win by what we won by today, win by one, win by two, you're going to be excited," Sirianni said.
Sirianni and his Eagles will be back home at Lincoln Financial Field to face off against a struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team with the hopes of having a postgame press conference just like this one where he is able to commend the efforts of his players and not endure the scrutiny he has become accustomed to this year.
